Dario Franchitti took one stop closer to catching Will Power in the IZOD IndyCar Series championship battle by winning the pole for Saturday's season-ending Cafes do Brasil Indy 300 at Homestead- Miami Speedway. Franchitti, the defending series champion, posted a two-lap average of 213.187 m.p.h. in qualifying at the 1.5-mile South Florida track on Friday to pull within 11 points of leader Power.
