Tom Carnegie, 'the voice of Indy,' dies

Tom Carnegie, the legendary public address announcer at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, died Friday. He was 91. Born in Connecticut as the son of a Baptist minister, Carnegie served as the public service announcer at IMS from 1946-2006. He called 61 Indianapolis 500s, 12 Brickyard 400s (NASCAR Cup Series) and six United States Grand Prix (Formula One). Carnegie's signature calls at Indy included: "And It's a neeeeew track record," "
